About us

Who are we?

The Center for Advocacy and Human Rights - CADO - is a non-governmental organization, established in 2010, which defends and promotes respect for human rights and the principle of non-discrimination, according to national and international legal norms, aiming to contribute to the creation of a healthy democratic society. .
CADO develops and promotes tools and services to improve the access of vulnerable groups to justice in order to prevent and combat discrimination and gender-based violence.
CADO acts through advocacy actions at regional, national and European level in a collaborative manner that encourages public institutions, national and international organizations, companies, civil society to work together for the stability of the rule of law and the development of an inclusive society.
CADO works to increase the capacity of civil society and individuals to prevent and combat cases of abuse and human rights violations.

The Team

Claudia Cerasela Bănică – President

Claudia Cerasela Bănică is a graduate of the Faculty of Public Administration and as well of the Faculty of Law of Ovidius Constanța University, and of the Master of Laws on Human Rights at the Central European University (CEU) Germany. She has 18 years of national and European experience in the field of non-discrimination and 12 years in the field of preventing and combating violence against children and women, especially on trafficking in human beings. In 2010 she established the Association Advocacy and Human Rights Center, which she leading to this day.

Adriana Sumănaru – Head of Education

She graduated in Biophysics and Medical Physics, within the Faculty of Physics, the University of Bucharest, and a master programme in Managerial Communication and Human Resources, Faculty of Communication and Public Relations, National School of Political and Administrative Studies, Bucharest. She has 15 years of experience in national and European projects’ implementation in the field of education, non-discrimination/social inclusion and justice. Her passion for people and communities has kept her close to education, adult education, and building communities and support groups for more than 10 years.

Victor Ciobotaru – Policy Expert

Victor Ciobotaru is a graduate of the Sociology Faculty at the University of Bucharest and of the master programme in Politics, Gender and Minorities, Faculty of Political Science, SNSPA. His passion and concern for the protection of human rights have motivated him for years to be actively involved in civil society and in the life of communities. Within CADO, he is involved in advocacy and policy reform actions that are the core of the organization’s activity.
